Essential description
Once upon a time...
An Emblematic House called Casa Cuartel rectangular totally different from the rest of the rural houses. This was a house rehabilitated from its walls of history.
Its owners...
It is a house very loved and cared for by its owners Veronica and Jorge, who feel the guests as friends, and if you are a lover of the history of the places they will tell you and make you feel part of it and of the quiet and peaceful village of La Oliva and its inhabitants.
They will enjoy telling you about all the events, markets and activities that take place in the area and on the island, the best advice comes from people who want to get to know you and who have been sharing their lives with Fuerteventura since they were born. Their eyes and experiences as hosts will be your guides.
Uniqueness...
The house has a curious history and a great historical value for the chronicles of La Oliva and the island.
It was built in the 18th century, in the style of the Casa Majorera, with the courtyard located in the inner part, formerly containing a cistern to collect the scarcest and most valuable resource on the island: rainwater.
The house was a detachment of the Guardia Civil and had a capacity for a sergeant and four guards and a stable for two horses. The Guardia Civil post in La Oliva remained in this building until its suppression in 1968.
Today it has 3 independent houses, with 1 and 2 bedrooms for 4 and 6 people, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, living area, washing machine and a small private patio protected from the wind for lunch, dinner, reading...where you can enjoy the island's climate, the starry nights and the sounds of the village.
The house is simply decorated with cosy corners.
Surrounding space...
Its large, private parking area reveals a communal space for guests to barbecue, have lunch in the shade or let the children run and play safely.
Without even looking up, the village of La Oliva is within walking distance and you can stroll in front of its most important cultural buildings. If you want to understand, learn and feel part of Fuerteventura's history, stay in its streets.
The north of the island is a mixture of tradition and alternative lifestyle, in this area the two cultures of the island are mixed, it is a gastronomic enclave of the island, because here you can find the most renowned traditional restaurants.
With a short drive you can find one of the most beautiful beaches of the island, El Cotillo, a unique place for the local inhabitants of the island.
